Judge Matz: “If you [Killercop] had said to me judge, I want to be my own lawyer, I would have spent a half hour explaining to you why that would be an absolutely mistaken decision on your part.”

Judge: “But I will guarantee you that I will set this down for trial and stick to the date, unless there are absolutely compelling conflicts that I can't get out of, to get you to trial as quickly as possible. But I don't want you to start the trial before you're ready. That means your lawyers are ready. And that means the experts are lined up.
"And there are possible issues, since we're talking about electronic evidence here, assuming there's anything different or new that the government has not given to us will be a matter of going through some of this stuff with our expert to see if it's the same that we had before to see if it's complete." -William Harris
"Now, I thank your honor for that, because I'm planning to submit an ex parte application for someone I finally was able to find as a local expert on the computer issue." - Greg Nicolaysen

UPDATE ON THE EXPERTS
The SCOTUS court in May 2023 failed to rule on two cases that would have affected section 230 protections and potentially upended the way the internet is moderated. With more internet freedom cases on the horizon, it is important to note that in the past justices have noted their own lack of knowledge on the topic, said Eric Goldman, a Santa Clara University law professor. Justice Elena Kagan previously said members of the court were not “the nine greatest experts on the internet”.
“Nevertheless, these non-experts will determine the Internet’s fate,” Goldman said. “The supreme court will be taking more internet law cases in the next few years, each of which has the potential to radically reshape the Internet. The odds the current Internet will survive this multi-staged review intact is very low.”
